This morning we went snorkeling in the sea. I was kind of scared, but sore some fish which were beautiful! Had lunch in which I had a pizza which is very nice. Actually they were amazing!! Later in the afternoon about 4.00 pm, my mom and I went for a camel ride. Which was an experience of a life time.
The hotel took us to the edge of a freeway. Where we got on two camels each, lead by a guide. One got the freeway and then the desert, so the camels where at the edge of the desert. The guide lead us to a Badawin camp for an experience which they offered tourists like us tea and some traditional bread. Then as we were ridding back the sun was setting.
It felt very sad to have our last supper and pudding. Tomorrow we are leaving , to go home.
Yesterday morning after breakfast we went for a walk in the town which is also got lots of tourist resorts. All the hotels are packed next to one another. It was horrible! Well, for lunch we went to a McDonald’s, which tasted horrible!
Then in the afternoon we went back for swimming and now I have blisters on my toe.
Merry Christmas! Today has been quite a nice day. Woke up around 8:00 am, well my mom woke us up, Quickly opened our prezzies (Or else we would be late for breakfast), which were books. Got the book I wanted. Then we went down for breakfast, which was awesome is the only way to describe the food. You have to go there to experience the food for oneself. Afterwards we went on a glass bottom boat while Graeme went diving, saw loads of fish and took lots of photos and then Lara and I went swimming in the pool, which was lovely and warm. Mom came later. We then had some cake for tea, which I think was fruit/Christmas cake, not to sure.
Then after lunch my Mom, Lara and I went to swim in the Red Sea, which was awesome!! It was so nice and warm. Afterwards I had a shower and took some photos of the sun set and city lights in the distances.
Somethings are never far from home and that is the little things that buzz around one and bite you called mosquitoes! The joy of life. Then I got burnt this morning on my right side of my body, which is really weird. It was quite surprising that the sun is quite strong.
Today is Christmas Eve! And soon we will be going to Christmas Eve supper. I actually wish I was home for Christmas with my cousins, aunt, uncle and my Gran. It doesn’t feel like Christmas here in Egypt at all! This morning was long with having to catch both flights. One from Aswan to Cairo and Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh. In a way I am so glad in a few days I will be home! It is weird with Omumaha not around. After lunch we went for a walk on the beach, the sand is so different. Also to check out a price for Graeme to go diving and Lara to horse ride. I have decided I am not going to anything, but just relax these few days and do a few gym work outs!
Supper was awesome!! Had turkey and pudding!:D Everything was so good and there was so much food!! I ate as much as I could. Every girl got even a red rose at the cocktail party before hand. It was beautiful!!
This morning it would be just my luck to wake up feeling sick! So I have caught the tummy bug that goes around when one eat something one is not suppose to eat or drink the tap water by mistake. I didn’t feel like eating breakfast, but I was forced to eat some cornflakes and a hard boiled egg. (The eggs are awesome!). The food doesn’t agree with me. After breakfast we went on a boat ride this morning along the Nile, which was very nice and it did me good. We saw an island and yes another temple. Then about 10:00 am, we relaxed on deck by the pool. It was weird I had a coke, another boiled egg and a croissant for my second breakfast. For lunch, since I couldn’t stomach much, I had some pasta with plain tomato source and some cheese on top and I also had a sprite and I also tried to eat some chicken.
I didn’t go touring this afternoon, my tummy was really sore!:( I think I actually slept for 2 hours! I am having my second cup of tea and I managed to eat a wheat-worth without wanting to throw up! I am quite proud of myself. Sorry for been so disgusting but this is what happened!
This evening we said goodbye to our guide Oumaha. It is quite sad actually, he was a nice person. Actually he inspired me to become a tour guide so I must thank him for my career in tourism.
Tomorrow we have to get up at 4:00 am in the morning to get to the airport. Since our plane to Cairo leaves at 6h40am! Then depart form Cairo at 10h05 and arrive in Sharm El Sheikh at 11h05.
I am now going to pack, have supper soon and go to bed early.
This morning we work up early to go and see the Edfu Temple at Esna. Well, it is called the Temple of Horus at Edu. Edu is not a nice town one gets a bad feeling from. We took a horse and carrage ride and the horses weren’t looked after and the driver all in wanted was money. Omar (our guide) had a argument with him. Once inside the temple it was beautiful. I would so love to become a tour guide in Egypt just to tell me people about the fantastic history of the country. That tour was in the morning, which did take a while and our boat nearly left us behind! It was kind of interesting.
This afternoon after lunch we went to see guess what? Another town called Kom Ombo to see another temple which is called Ptolemaic Temple at 4:30 pm (the sun sets around about this time). Tonight is dinner abd the Egyptian-style party. I hate dressing up.
Just got back from seeing, yes another temple! Called Kom Ombo Temple, which was a small temple, thank goodness! All I want to is sleep! Last day of touring! I can’t wait ot just do nothing.
Just had supper, it was very good. Egyptian food is awesome! A lot of people have dressed up which to me is a little pointless, but anyway. I write more soon and put up some photos later.
Today we just relaxed or I can’t remember what else we did, its kind of a mystrey. Tomorrow is a party where we can dress up at a Egyptian. Its starts at 8:30 pm and there is a cocktail party before hand. I find a cocktail party kind of pointless because I don’t drink much and I find them rather boring.
After supper we all we up on deck and we watch our boar going through the lock, which was really interesting. But it got really cold after a while been up on deck. We waited forever for our boat to go through, because we were all in a queue and we had to wait for the other boats to go through the lock.
Then we decided to go back down to our cabins because it was cold and we have to go touring the next day.
20/12/2012This morning we worke up at the crack of dawn, which was about 6:00ish! Had breakfast in one of the many fancy restaurants at the hotel. Then at 8:00am went off to see The Valley of the Kings (we saw 3 tombs) in the Valley of the Kings one is not allowed to take photos becasue in case the photos get in the wrong hands and terriots descided to bomb the place. Next we went to see Al-Dier A-Bahari Temple. To be honest I can’t really remember this temple because by this time I was so sick of temples it wasn’t funny anymore! I am sick of tours and I want to be a tour guide!
After touring this morning we went to our boat called M/S Ti Ti to settle in and have lunch. The worst when they started to play the Titanic theme song and then I think they realised that it is like a bad luck song when you are on a Boat. The rest of the day we just chilled on the sun deck and read. My sister, my mom and my brother descided to go for a swim in the pool. While my dad and I just read our books.
Today my marks came out and either I have to email my head of department and ask her for them or wait until we get back to Cape Town. To use the interet on the boat is quite expensive. So I descided not to and just wait.
Tonight we are going to another Sound and Light Show but this time at Karnak Temple. It feels so late that we are going but it gets dark so early here. The Sound and Ligh Show was amazing! It was a walking tour through the temple and at some stages it got quite freaky! How they projected the pictures were incredable. By the end of the day our tour guide started to annoy me. He was very nice and fun, but it got to me.
That is all I got for today. Tonight and tomorrow we head down the Nile towards the Edfu Temple at Esna and even more lovely temples which our tour guide knows every single detail about what excatly what happend where and how.
I was saying to myself all day OMG I actually saw the Pyramids and the Sphinx! It was so amazing just like in photos one sees in travel magazines. We also went to see the Egyptian Museum. It all feels like a dream. This morning we all got up at early (not sure of the time, but probably around 7:00 am), went downstairs to breakfast , which I must point out was amazing they have so much better food. Then we met our tour guide at 8:00 am to go and see the Pyramids. It was such an interesting tour and you must see the photos I have, I took loads!
Before lunch we were taken too a place which selled perfumes and essances. This was very interesting as the perfume which is found in the shop in the essance which is export to Paris, France is actually from Egypt. There were so many different smells of essance that attract different people. The next stop was a a clothing shop that sells cotton clothing. We all bought t-shirts there. Out last stop we went to a papyrus shop where we were shown and told how the Egyptians made papyrus. We all bought bookmarks for ourselves and for presants for our friends too. At lunch time we went to this Egyptian take away place which selled these delisous shawarmas, seriously never tasted anything this good. This lunch was on the way to the Egyptian Museum. The museum was huge! But I must admit it was cold and a lot of people. By this time it was late in the afternoon so my sister and I were getting tierd. The was one room where one could go and see the mummys but one had to pay to see them. It wasn’t really worth it and I wasn’t too sure it I wan’t to see one anyway. Very creepy!
We got back to hotel late and just decided to dump out bags in our hotel rooms and go down to supper. I can’t help but telling you over and over again that the food was so good. You will have to go to Egypt one day to see what I mean.
Tomorrow morning we are going to Luxor and hoping it is a bit better that Cairo. So I had to pack the night before Cairo is just one noisy city with the Nile running throught it. Don’t get me wrong there are some beauitful building, art work and culture, so one musn’t skip out the city altogether its worth seeing!
It still feels like a dream that I am here.
I will post some photos once I got the hang of this travel blog thing.
